Hi SI&S,

So you are not new to futures. In fact, since you have traded CL and NG, your trading stamina is likely stainless steel.

Most people on this board are technically oriented so supply/demand is rarely discussed. One of the posters, Trades, made a bullish call on Sugar way back in Spring based purely on technical analysis. He blamed The Sugar Rat for sugar's stratospheric rise in the following months :)

I used to (still actually do) read daily reports on various commodities. In the Spring, most reports were bearish on Sugar (wrong), while now most of them are bullish (probably wrong too). When you start seeing articles in the popular media how shortages are looming, it is most of the time too late to take a bullish position; instead, taking a short position is likely to be more profitable.

My bet is that in a year or so, the retailers will "beg" us to buy cotton shirts and jeans luring consumers with free sugar treats :) The best cure for high prices are high prices provided that the government does not step in to "help."
