Geithner repeats call for China currency rise (C_CNY) by Greg Robb
WASHINGTON (MarketWatch) -- Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner said on Wednesday that the U.S. and China economies are largely complementary and both sides would benefit from closer economic ties. "We have a great deal invested in each other's success," Geithner said in a speech at Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies. Geithner spoke ahead of Chinese President Hu Jintao's state visit to Washington next week. Geithner urged China to allow its currency (C_CNY) to strengthen and allow more access to U.S. goods to China's market. In return, the U.S. will give China more access to U.S. high-tech goods and allow China to take greater advantage of investment opportunities in the U.S.
