Yemen declares state of emergency: reports (by Wallace Witkowski)

SAN FRANCISCO (MarketWatch) -- Yemen President Ali Abdullah Saleh declared a state of emergency Friday after protesters were killed at an anti-government rally, according to media reports. In conflicting reports, Yemen's interior ministry said 25 protestors were killed Friday in the capital of Sanaa by armed groups within the protests, while witnesses have said more than 40 people were killed by Yemeni security forces and unidentified snipers.
