Hi Wayne,
Very well put !!!
I particularly subscribe to your comment:
"The Bible is an observation of human nature…with a suggested plan of how to enjoy a more fruitful existence…"
On reflection, my comments really apply more to a discussion of "Creationism vs. Evolution" AND neither you nor Ronbo have ventured into that "pond".
Yes, the various "Bibles" of the "various major religions" have all arrived at nearly the same basic teachings.
All written by "humans" from "differing societies" in different parts of the world as their societies developed.
I'm not a scholar of Islam for sure. I would classify Islam as a "societal doctrine" rather than a "religion" in that it appears to teach that "committing suicide" to "murder a perceived enemy" opens the "gates to their 'heaven'" for them !! This to me is not a religion in the context of this discussion. It is "inhumane behavior".
I fully support the "notion of religion" as discussed by yourself and Ronbo.
I do strongly resist the notion that the study of the various bodies in the Universe and our Solar system are some how "sacrilegious". I find serious fault with quotations apparently taken from the Bible on this subject, a book written back when our Earth was "still flat" and maybe long before anyone really thought about the "shape of the earth" !!!
Anyway, Hope the Easter Bunny was good to all !!
- AND I do believe in the "Easter Bunny" !!!
