Now I understand your question. Norma is correct....Planting does not always effect new crop more than old crop...in fact it is quite different in a bull market we have now. Old crop tightness of supply is effected more than new crop. If you are trying to spread old crop vs. new crop, then it is beneficial to understand how supply of old crop vs new crop could present a trade...but you need to understand how basis works.
