Trichet: "Of course" we won't have U.S. default (by Polya Lesova)
LONDON (MarketWatch) -- European Central Bank President Jean-Claude Trichet said Thursday that he assumes "of course" that there won't be a U.S. debt default. "It goes without saying," he said, responding to a question about the U.S. debt situation. He was speaking at his monthly news conference in Frankfurt. Separately, Trichet also said that "we have no quarrel" with any European government. He was responding to a question about whether the ECB was at odds with the German finance ministry over how to tackle the Greek debt crisis.
