Natural gas up on lower-than-expected inventories (by Claudia Assis)
SAN FRANCISCO (MarketWatch) -- Natural-gas futures rallied Thursday after a government weekly inventories report showed a lower-than-expected rise in supplies. Natural gas for November delivery (ng11x) added 7 cents, or 1.8%, to $3.65 per million British thermal units. The Energy Information Administration reported earlier Thursday stockpiles of the product rose 103 billion cubic feet for the week ended Oct. 14. That contrasted with expectations of a rise between 109 and 113 bcf, according to analysts polled by Platts.
