LONDON (MarketWatch) -- In a revised statement outlining measures aimed at a stronger economic union, euro-zone leaders said on Friday that nine countries outside the currency zone -- with the exception of Britain -- may join them in forging closer fiscal ties. "The heads of state or government of Bulgaria, Czech Republic, Denmark, Hungary, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Romania and Sweden indicated the possibility to take part in this process after consulting their Parliaments where appropriate," the euro-zone statement said. The EU has 27 members, with 17 of them using the euro as their currency.
