Re: "that other place"

"My question is why would anyone in their right mind want to rule? Or be ruled for that matter?"

A good question, indeed. No one in there right mind would want to rule. But history is replete with examples of people who must rule. Hitler, Mao, Stalin, Pol Pot and the list goes on. Why they feel this way is a mystery to me except to imagine that they are just born that way. They believe themselves so superior in some manner, intelligence, ruminations with the lord, getting a participation trophy. Who knows, they may indeed be mentally ill.

As for those who support the "must rule"...maybe they perceive themselves as a beneficiary to the crown. Maybe they perceive themselves as favored by the crown and therefore beneficiaries of the crowns benevolence ie, food stamps or welfare. Maybe they are cowards and afraid of the rulers wrath, which throughout history has proven to be quite brutal as was displayed by the above mentioned rulers that laid waste to an estimated 200 million souls in the twentieth century simply for not bowing to the ruler.

The most recent example of this phenomenon is the islamic terrorist or maybe it is just islam..."believe as we say you shall believe or it's a knife to the throat".

"Two people can have opposite believes and both be right." Almost never to seldom is this the case.
