Very cool.
After spending time in Texas I always ask the pronunciation...cause you just never know.
I spent three months in Texas looking for a road everyone kept calling I-way parkway. It takes you to the little town of I-way Park. I finally rolled to a stop one day and the cross road was named Iowa parkway...it went to a little town called Iowa Park. I thought...surely not but yes...that's what it was.
There's a road out here named Cairo...everybody calls it Karo. I'm like Karo is a syrup and Cairo is pronounced like the city in Egypt. I thought I would, in my dealing about town, start pronouncing it as Cairo. Every time...and I mean every time I did it...huh? Where's that at? I would say...you know...Karo. Oh yea, OK.
I gave up trying to change the peeps.
Then there's Shelbyville... pronounced out here...chebaval. Woooo! To lazy to pronounce shelby and ville, I guess. if someone rolled up and said...pardon me, Sir..can you tell me were Shelbyville is. Naw man...we don't got no Grey Poupon round here...whereyu from boy...Naw Yok.
whuteva. haha
