My other wife...

My Texas girlfriend who lives in Oregon...my "other wife"...the original "the woman"...my now dead best friends ex-wife...has breast cancer.

Luckily, it's a common type that responds well to treatment and the prognosis for survival is good.

Of course, I have been in contact with her since she discovered she has cancer. Well, actually, she kept it from me when I was going through my nose situation because she didn't want to throw added crap on my worries. That's why she was originally..."The Woman". She cared for her husband's and her friends as if she was their mother. A more caring sole was never born.

I have never known a close female that was touched by breast cancer. If you have a beating heart and a few active brain cells you can't help but know something about the process due to it being on the news and stuff...but until you walk with someone who has to do this...you just don't know.

As I go through this with her...it has really opened my eye's to the process of attempting to cure someone. It is complicated. It takes a brutal toll on the person going through it even if the prognosis for survival is good...you just never know if this will be the time it doesn't work...it is cancer, after all.

Gives one a new appreciation for life and the tribulations of those suffering with this dreaded disease.
