Question For All of You Economist Types

We're approximately twenty-seven cents lower, wholesale unleaded gasoline (RBOB) than we were at the late May highs. However, prices at the pump are close to twelve cents higher. When I ask people why gasoline prices are so high, retail-at-the-pump, they go on about Trump and tariffs. So, I ask them .... wouldn't that be applicable to wholesale prices? They emphatically answer, "YES!". Then, when I point out that wholesale is significantly lower than the May highs .... They just say "... it ... it ..... it .....huh?"
