A country ham is a whole ham that was thrown in a salt box to cure for a length of time. Have forgotten how long...maybe 10 days? Then it's hung up to dry for a long period of time. I'd say...it's those big hams you see hanging in the store but I don't know if they have those things hangin around in Yankee land like they do down here.

I'd further say...it's the salty tasting tough ham you have with your eggs and grits in the morning...but....y'all don't even know what hominy grits are and if you ever eat them you blaspheme them by puttin butter and sugar on them...when God clearly made them to be eatin with butter and salt. The butter and sugar goes on oatmeal.

Down here when we see someone put sugar on their grits we shake our heads and mumble...yankee.
