Re: Need a good price, not another loan

I grew up on a farm. That was when farming was very physical and didn't pay well. Point of fact, we were share croppers and my folks were finally able to get the 20% downstroke when I was twelve and purchased our first farm. That required my father, besides farming, to work at Amana Refrigeration, taking all of the overtime that he could get ... and he delivered bulk gas at night to farms.

Back then, EVERYONE had livestock ... and it was hard back-breaking work. Today, hardly any "family farmer" has livestock and the rotation crops of an Iowa farmer are corn, beans, and Florida.

Hayull, as recently as 2001 we had sub 2.00 corn. It wasn't until the ethanol scam that prices shot up.

When someone makes an incredibly stupid business decision, such as incurring debt when they shouldn't, why should I feel for them?

BTW: Farms that actually produce the food that we eat get NO subsidies. Peas, carrots lettuce and meat producers do it all on their own,

So, which farmers are feeding you? Unless you eat dried field corn and soybeans, you're thanking the wrong group.
