Re: Busted laptop...

I can't remember how old this one is. Gotta be 4 at least. What I did on this one that fasted it up exponentially was to remove the original hard drive and pop in a solid state drive.

Like everything electronic the prices on the SSD's have come down pretty significantly. They're not as big, memory wise, as the old ones...well, they can be but they start getting kinda expensive the bigger they get. I have 4-5 thousand pictures on mine, Win10 etc. So they're big enough. You can get 500 GB one in the range of 70-120 buckeroos.

The one I have will populate my pictures folder in seconds compared to the days it took the old spinner disk. 😁

If you think you're old one is worthy, you might investigate the possibility of putting a SSD in. That won't solve any deeper problems but it will speed up your system in general just because they are fast.

I assume you let Microsoft update automatically and do disk maintenance like defragment and optimize...and...do disk cleanup found in the control panel/administrative tools. Could even flash you BIOS for upgrades...blah blah...

or you could get a new one every 5 years... LOL
