Yeah I like you can remember those days. I was standing a starboard fan tail watch one night. A I looked up around the 5 o'clock position and say 4 bright lights round and in perfect formation. I called the bridge and they sent a helo investigate then all of a sudden each light went out and disappeared one at a time was so strange, I told Walter Cronkite a news anchor he was aboard that story he was a famous reporter back then. You remember, watch takes a licking and keeps on ticking lol.
One time in PI we were anchored out and had three days liberty there in PI, swinging place. Well all the sailors got back late that night and the two liberty launches could not handle all them. So the crowed got to ruff, fights breaking out. So the chief called the marines for crowed control many were stabbed lightly with there bayonets, I saw one sailor get it right in the butt and the blood came right through his whites lol.
There were a few others but the one I remember the most was when we ran into the Iwo Jima in San Diego when we came into port lol. Now that was two big ships colliding broad day light ol.
Yeah the A-4 Sky Hawk was one of my favorite plans, that would have been my chose to fly
