Not to dwell on this, but it is interesting how an "out of the blue" comment can conjure up "memories" of the past.
After a moment, I was able to pin down ....
It was then, the "Saddle Back Inn" on Imperial Blvd., Downey, Calif. which was near the Rockwell International Facility in the early Space Shuttle days. I used to go there often.
I do remember that the "direct route/quickest" was East on Imperial Blvd. from the airport, right through Watts inorder to get East of that area. Things weren't as bad then as they were later on, but I remember being uneasy driving through that area. But, being a bit younger back then, the goal was to get out and "party a bit" while at an age when a "short sleep night" was more survivable !!!
Interesting that that Astro post conjured up some good memories, those trips went on for a couple of years.
