China's CPI likely around 4% in 2011: economist (by Chris Oliver)

HONG KONG (MarketWatch) -- China will be able to contain consumer price inflation to around 4% this year, the chief economist for the National Bureau of Statistics, Yao Jingyuan, was cited as saying in reports Monday. Yao said China is likely to avoid severe inflation this year as it has ample grain stockpiles after seven good years of crop harvests, and as supply of industrial goods generally outpaces demand, according to reports which cited comments by Yao that appeared the state-run Shanghai Securities Journal.
