"Can someone please exaplain to me why changing your mind about which door you choose to win the car makes a difference to the odds?
(3 doors, 2 with goats behind them, one with the car prize)"
When you make the first pick, the probability that the car is behind your door is 1/3. The probability that it is behind the other two doors is 2/3. When one of the two doors is opened to reveal a goat behind it, you should switch your bet because the probability of winning is now 2/3. If you do not switch, the probability stays at 1/3.
