That is my point. In Canada we all didn't want to change either. But there was a set date that one dollar bills and twos were not issued anymore regardless of what people wanted. It was a decision cast in stone. So in time stores just didn't have one dollar bills to give back as change. So they gave out the $1 and $2 coins. So we all 'adapted' and lived with the decision. Just like the metric system that all of North America agreed to. Same thing again. The switch was made and irreversible in Canada. The Canadian government didn't waffle on public sentiment as it had made the decision to do this just like the coins replacing bills under $5. People don't like changing things basically so will not change happily as a rule. But decisions do have to be made one way or the other all the time. So now I save my change as its faster shopping and at the end of every year have about $800 to $1000 in quarters, loonies and toonies to cash in. Now it's a positive thing rather than negative. Always some way to turn it around.
