HONG KONG (MarketWatch)- Spot gold prices rose to a fresh record in late afternoon trade in Asia on Friday, following on from settlement and intraday records in U.S. trading, and marking a week since bullion embarked on an accelerated upward trend. Gold for immediate delivery was at $1,509.10 a troy ounce, up $4.40 from its previous close, and having earlier traded as high as $1,513.60 per ounce, according to Kitco. Friday's gains extend the 1.2% rise for the week as of the close of U.S. regular trade on Thursday.
