Corn: Old-crop corn posted sharp gains tied to solid demand while new-crop issues continue to find support from planting delays with little relief in sight this week.
Soybeans: Old-crop bean contracts posted modest gains on commercial buying interest while new-crop struggled on the idea acreage will be gained at the expense of corn.
Wheat: Planting delays in the northern Plains and continued drought conditions in the southwest Plains led wheat contracts at all three exchanges to sharp gains.
Live Cattle: Sharp losses in live and feeder contracts were sparked by increased cattle on feed and placement numbers Thursday afternoon along with the surging corn market.
Cotton: New-crop cotton continues to find buying interest from both sides of the market as doubts remain in place whether production will bring supplies back to a comfortable level in the 2011-2012 marketing year.
