Economy 'consistently weak': Boston Fed president (by Steve Goldstein)
WASHINGTON (MarketWatch) -- Rather than being in a soft patch, the U.S. economy the past two years has been in a "consistently weak" recovery that's been interrupted by brief periods of strong growth, Boston Fed President Eric Rosengren said Wednesday. Rosengren, who becomes a voting member in 2013, called the employment data released Friday "dismal" and said current conditions allow the Fed to keep accommodative policy. He does forecast second-half growth between 3% and 3.5%.
