Geithner downplays chance of G-7 action (by Greg Robb)
WASHINGTON (MarketWatch) - Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner downplayed the likelihood of concerted Group of Seven action to boost the global economy at their meeting in France later Friday. "I don't think you should expect from this meeting any dramatic change," Geithner said in an interview with Bloomberg Television. Geithner said he would like to see more political will from European leaders to end the sovereign debt crisis. Geithner said it was "absolutely" in the U.S. interest that the euro survive as a currency.
