Im just starting out, not paper trading (I Do paper trade) but I would like to play with the markets a little bit, I have been paper trading for the past 8 months, with pretty good success, It's just that, even though I have been successful paper trading, in August I tried to short Feeder cattle, Feeder was up at 142, then dropped down to 132 then came back up to 140.5, as it dropped to 138, I entered the market, short, and I was right, it did well for the first 2 weeks, then it climbed right back up 142, passed it and up to 144.5. Basically I broke even, however not what I was planning on, and from the charts, it looked like a 1,2,3 top formation. Instead of breaking even, I should have exited earlier I suppose, and collected a profit.
I have been paper trading soybeans, and seem to be doing well, since the markets have been going back and forth since Jan/Feb 2011, however the big drop in September has got me questioning when to enter. (I guess comes with experience and patience). I had actually planned on entering the market in mid October, and have been on vacation all of september, after coming back and seeing the big drop in the market, I am confused to as where the support is, lol. I would like to get in the swing, when it retraces back, but I guess I'll just have to wait.
