Obama slams China over yuan appreciation (by Michael Kitchen)
LOS ANGELES (MarketWatch) -- U.S. President Barack Obama said late Sunday that China has not done enough to address what Washington sees as an undervalued Chinese yuan. Speaking at the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation forum in Hawaii, which China also attended, the U.S. leader said that the yuan's rise against the dollar has marked a "slight improvement over the last year, but it hasn't been enough." Obama cited other trade-related complaints against China, including the safeguarding of intellectual property rights.
