SAN FRANCISCO (MarketWatch) -- Natural gas futures shot up Thursday after a weekly government inventories report showed a smaller-than-expected increase in the week ended Nov. 11. Natural gas for December delivery (ng11z) added 10 cents, or 3%, to $3.45 per million British thermal units. The Energy Information Administration reported an increase of 19 billion cubic feet to the nation's storages of natural gas. Analysts polled by Platts had expected an increase between 23 bcf and 27 bcf for the week.
