I read a study recently on the Dow. I think I posted a barchart a while back. It showed the price movement on the vertical axis, and the day of the month on the vertical.
Hands down the 1st of the month was almost always a trend day. I did a rough opening range breakout test since 2008 and found almost every instance to be profitable. I could mail you the charts showing the trades if you like.
