A fella I knew in Houston took me out to a rig once. They were going to make a roughneck out of me. One guy would flip a chain at the drill rod and it would wrap a few times. My job was to slap the chain into a hook like thingy and the winch would pull it back fast to tighten or unscrew the rods. Why I'm I telling you how it works? You know what I'm talking about. Anyway, I missed the chains tail 6 out of 6 tries. That chain would go whipping around, men were running for cover, it was a bad scene. Some big ugly guy with a piss pot on his head said and I quote " Get your skinny ass off my rig" You probable guessed by now I didn't the job.
