Ensembles indicate milder than normal everywhere for the last full week of Jan except over the Pac NW as a generally W-E jetstream lifts N into Canada and keeps the really cold air bottled up. Its a very flat pattern and not typical...one would expect to see more wavy-ness as storms form on the boundary.
This week will see a strong storm develop over Ontario which will drag mild air back into OH valley, Great Lakes and most of new England early in the week, and an upper low off the CA coast this morning will set off the development of a deep low over the Central Rockes tomorrow morning. This storm will become the major player for the week, bringing milder conditions and heavy rain to the northern OH valley and rain/snow to the Great lakes states on Tuesday, but blizzard conditions to the upper midwest. Behind this system, cold air will return to the NE Wednesday. A "clipper" type system will bring a general light snow to most of the OH valley, Great Lakes and the NE Thursday pm-Friday am.
For once this season, net withdrawls to be reported thursday morning will be near seasonal.
