Draghi: No signs banks 'addicted' to ECB (by Kim Hjelmgaard)
LONDON (MarketWatch) - Mario Draghi, president of the European Central Bank, said on Wednesday said that if banks in the euro zone don't have the capital they need, then they should think about raising it now. With respect to Greek banks, ECB Vice President Vitor Constancio, also present at the news conference, said that some Greek banks may need to be restructured. Draghi said that there weren't any signs that the banks in the euro area as a whole are dependent or addicted to the ECB. Earlier Wednesday, the European Central Bank decided not to make any changes to its key interest rate, which currently stands at 1%.
