The first week of May will bring above average temperatures over much of the lower 48. Much warmer than average over the Ohio Valley and SE. As has been usual for the last several months, cooler than average over the Pac NW.
This week will be a week of extremes. A deep "noreaster" type of storm will bring strong winds and rain to much of the NE early in the week, with snow inland over western NY, western PA and the highlands of West Virginia. Meanwhile, a very strong upper ridge over the west will result in record maximum temperatures over Southern CA and much of the inter-mountain west just to the east of the Sierra crest with the very warm conditions creeping east thru the week, creating near record warmth over west TX and the southern and central plains Tuesday and Wednesday. The remainder of the week will bring milder conditions spreading over the SE but generally cool weather to the NE. So between cool conditions over the NE and warmth over the W, I expect NG injections as reported on May 3rd will be significantly lower than average.
Happy earth day.
