For the second week of August expect below average temperatures just along the immediate west coast but near normal inland from the Pacific for WA, OR and CA, and most of NV, AZ, NM and TX due to monsoon moisture over the desert and moister conditions in TX. Otherwise nearly all of the rest of the country will experience above average temperatures with very warm conditions over the SE and along the east coast as far N as Boston.
This week brings wretched ongoing heat over the Plains with only brief local relief from scattered thunderstorms expected. The Ohio valley remains a little warmer than seasonal. The NE will be seasonably muggy and damp with frequent daytime thunder; the SE very warm and humid. Dry and a little cooler than average over the Pac NW. TX will heat up thru the week as a ridge gets firmly established overhead. The desert southwest will continue to enjoy a monsoonal circulation with periodic daytime and evening thunderstorms. For most of the lower 48, in a word, Toasty.
NG should continue its trend of injections below the 5 year average this week.
