in the US, the first $25,000 should be free of FIT. All dedeuctions up to that amount are void including head-of-household, etc..
FICA must stay the same. It is the costs of Medicare that must be curtailed. There is way too much corruption and waste. There will then be enough to pay the SS portion. No more $50,000 emergency room visits on a regular basis for 85 year old people who are just in it for the "attention."
The states will then raise their rates. That is no good. We have a disposable income problem. Let the states cut their employment forcing the public sector back into the private sector to make ends meet. We must keep the demand side up or we're doomed.
Allow student debt to be dischargable in bankruptcy. There is no choice in this. I have no dog in that fight but I know what must be done.
No 1099s for discharged debt. Just a ploy by the bankers to punish when they are not punished for their own misdeeds.
