Natural gas declines further after inventory data ( NGV12 ) (by Claudia Assis)

SAN FRANCISCO (MarketWatch) -- Natural-gas futures added to losses Thursday after a weekly government report showed an increase in inventories. Natural gas for October delivery (ngv12) declined 7 cents, or 2.3%, to $2.99 per million British thermal units on the New York Mercantile Exchange. The Energy Information Administration reported an increase of 27 billion cubic feet for the week ended Sept. 7. Analysts polled by Platts expected an increase between 25 bcf and 29 bcf. Cooler-than-normal temperatures in key U.S. markets raised fears of less demand and investors also took profits after recent sharp gains for natural gas.
