Acorns in NC

'round here, the oak trees are producing large, fat acorns in a quantity I have not seen in a long time. Seems like all of them are very heavy producers this year.

On the web, I found reports of this happening all up the East Coast.

So, naturally, checked the folk sayings and found this may indicate a harsh winter.

When I was a kid in the 50s, at Halloween, we walked knee-deep in maple leaves from the trees which had fallen, the trees almost bare. Starting in the '70s, the leaves are still on the trees at Halloween. Watching that.

The monarch butterflies are flying through on their way South now... think this is the normal time.

don't think the robins have passed through as yet.

Well, Lee, that's all I've got for you and the Straddler today.

And as they say at this time every 4 years:
"to catch the fishes, you need debate."
