NYSE 2-day weather closure first since 1888 ( NYX SPX DJIA ) (by Deborah Levine)
SAN FRANCISCO (MarketWatch) - The New York Stock Exchange's decision to close both Monday and Tuesday as Hurricane Sandy approaches is the first time the exchange has closed for two days for weather since 1888, according to the NYSE. The exchange's calendar of closing, which only goes back to 1885, shows the last time trading shut for two days for weather was for the Blizzard of 1888, in March of that year.
