It's not a matter of plain common sense. It's about public perception. The news media just shows the carnage which is shocking to everyone and then a disgusted society just demands government officials 'do something' about it. If there is widespread support for change they'll change it just to get re-elected. Politicians know what side of their bread is buttered and will go with whatever is politically popular. Right now supporting strong gun control is like supporting mother's milk It's a no lose situation for them. Notice already many of them that supported gun ownership are reversing their stand. And the maker of Bushmaster announced it is selling the entire company. As I said before you'll also see mutual funds dumping the gun stocks as they will be added to the list of unethical companies. See my post of Ruger and Smith and Wesson charts plunging since Friday even with record gun sales. Bottom line: The tide has turned on the NRA and even today said they would do whatever they could to see this never happened again. They also announced they would be making further announcements this Friday. Have no idea what they'll be doing about it but when is the last time the NRA made such compromising comments. Any politician or pro gun advocate that tries to support existing gun regulations will be like pi$$ing into the wind. It will only blow back on him.................
