I use a long term setting 'cuz I'm swing trading for the most part. The settings I like for some charts. say Gold 2k ticks Macd will be 10. 80. 6. EMA. Others I I just the settings till it looks right when going back, say, at list few days in history, bearish/bullish, and flat scenarios.

Other charts with small tick count, 50 ticks or so I will use the slow stoch (K period = 10, D period = 2 and O+H+L+C/4) - Because I like the overbought, oversold areas and positive, negative divergencies.
