There was another piece of news that generated much conversation concerning Chinese bean support prices. The rumor is that China announced next year’s target prices for beans produced by Chinese farmers at $21.18/ bushel – and that no imported beans will be purchased at this price. It would seem that most of Chinese beans would go into the government support program and that imported beans would be bought at a discount. It’s hard to tell how much support this would lend to international prices, but it seems that Funds were impressed enough to become aggressive bean/meal buyers at below season high prices.
