As far as the long bonds go (thirty year paper, and to a lesser degree the ten) ... Feds have been buying that under the moniker of quantitative easing.
The Federal Reserve is a for profit, privately held corporation.
How long will rates stay low/lower?
Until the Fed is able to sell their portfolio at a profit.
