This is one (and maybe the main) reason I trade options exclusively.

And why I like trades like this where you either lose your option (at worst) or make 1,000% or better.

I can see where a stealth trader could have seen this coming as a possibility because of all the news of QE and even trapped this currency with options on both sides...

Anyways this proves it is smart to trade with options as hedges at a minimum and definitely not at the 50-1 leverage these brokerages brag about with all of their annoying damn pop up ads all over the financial pages everywhere you look...
