Actually, that ACA tax credit works for those that don't pay taxes. I hire the services of a man, early sixties ... He's part-time at best. I think I toss him around two large a month.
So, he has this ACA subsidy. For the same plan that we're on ... we pay eleven hundy ($1100.00) per month. He, for himself and spouse pay less than eighty. I offered him more work, which would kick him up to a little over thirty-six large, per annum. He told me NO! He would lose all of his subsidy ... so, on a net-net after tax basis ... my paying him another twelve large, would cost him over three thousand dollars.
So, the tax credit is immediately applied to their insurance premium, in the form of a subsidy.
Must work or he'd want more work.
