Re: health ins.
Hi, isellitgoesup. First, you're referencing company provided group coverage .. which is STILL subject to underwriting. Prior to the ACA .. in most states, if not all, a company group could not be declined. In this state .. the most .. no matter how uninsurable the members were for individual policies .. the most that could be charged on any group was "Max Load". "Max Load" is defined as the highest that insurance regulations would allow . in this state, Max Load was 100% in excess of standard.
In this area .. typical family coverage, individual policies .. underwritten as "standard" the typical plan would have an individual deductible of $1,500.00, with a maximum of two or three deductibles, per family unit. Standard coinsurance was 80/20 with a MOOP (maximum out of pocket), following deductible, of two thousand dollars.
Today, same family .. same region .. the Bronze Plan has a twelve thousand dollar individual deductible with NO family cap .. the coinsurance is 60/40 .. NOT 80/20. The MOOP is thirteen thousand dollars, following deductible .
The premium is close to triple what it was .. even though the coverage is not even comparable t what it used to be when insurance was underwritten.
For anyone that pays their own way .. provides for themselves and their families .. as opposed to those that suck on the taxpayer's teat (Gimme, gimme, gimme, and gimme some more) the ACA has been disastrous.
