it's not at all uncommon for a president to lose his majority in the midterm, if he has one. It happens regularly and might do it again.

For a non-incumbent to win by 7 is not exactly a "very thin margin" even in a solid red state. Whatever it is, we'll take it. Hopefully he's a hard core conservative and not some squishy liberal repub.
