Well Boys...
I probably shouldn't put this up here but what the hell, I've lived the last 20 or more years, or more, in this forum so why the hell not.
Dec 24th hit the ER with what they claimed was acute sinusitis. Put me on antibiotics and things seemed to get better except I kept having this, what felt like, a tension headache at the base of my skull. My old ENT doctor, the one that did my polyp surgery a few years back, retired and I was referred over to a new guy right around the corner. He looked up my nose and immediately sent me to a get a catscan. They called me Monday with the results of the scan and immediately set me up an appointment with a doctor at Vanderbilt. This doctor is a specialist in what has come to be known as Skull Base surgery.
I don't know if the ENT who did my surgery a couple of years ago did the job he should have done but there were polyps left in my right side. They grew...They grew until they punched their way into the sinus cavity behind the main set of sinuses everyone thinks of when you think of sinus cavities...the one your nose goes to. The little one behind it is called the Sphenoid sinuses. The polyps have filled the cavity and degraded the bone around it to the point they are approaching my pituitary gland.
This is bad.
Luckily...Vanderbilt falls into the category of...they may not be in a class by themselves but it don't take long to call roll. They are, if not the best, one of the best outa maybe 4 or 5 top contenders including the likes of The Mayo Clinic on this type of surgery and they handle stuff way worse than this like cancers etc.
So, I go to see the doctor at Vandy Wednesday the 7th...one day before my 60th birthday to see what they have to say.
At this point...I have no idea what they might say...you're a dead man walking, we can't do a thing for ya. This is tough but we can handle it with a little luck, or this aint nothing for our bad asses...sit back and enjoy the show.
I probably won't be writing much until this is over. I'll try to come back in after I see the doctor and inform as to the verdict. If it's a bad verdict, likely not, and if this is the last of y'all hearing from me. Well...you'll know what happened.
I'm holding out the hope of a trader...may that next trade be the big one.
I have enjoyed this place and those in it...
