9-11 quietness out here...
Last couple of weeks they've been running from 7am till dusk across the street. Heavy equipment working on the new subdivision. I can deal with the actual noise of the work...crashing rock, dump trucks dumping big rocks crashing out...rock breakers going...the occasional house shaking blast...that kinda noise is a little bit soothing to my ears having grown up around construction.
But man...those back up beepers...one bulldozer in particular...when it's ass end is pointed toward the house it pierces through the house as if there's no house around me at all. There building a giant pad, permanent or temporary I do not know, right up from me....maybe 150 yards and when that big bulldozer is there smoothing out the dump...BEEP, BEEP, BEEP all fricken day!!!
It'll drive you mad!
Juxtapose that against a coronavirus self imposed quarantine by most of the population, it seems...no traffic, very few planes, no nothing much...and the quietness, as they say, is almost deafening. This morning was as quiet as I've heard it since 9-11.
I was tempted to bust out the 7mm mag and let rip with a round just to hear it echo down the valley. Let the neighbors know we're still alive up here on this end of the street. haha
Maybe next weekend.
