My great nephew brought his moderately priced(300 bucks) crossbow by to zero the scope. I haven't seen a crossbow in action since the 1970's. Wow!

I was duly impressed with this thing. At 25 yards it sent a 20 inch bolt(arrow) with a practice point on it through a store bought 12-14 inch thick target/arrow stop and all the way through a 3/4 inch piece of plywood behind that!!

With a razor sharp broadhead on the bolt, I have no doubt it would be highly effective against deer. The G. Neph says they're good on deer out to 50-60 yards. I'm tending toward believing that.

Here in TN we can hunt deer with a crossbow. I'm giving serious thought to getting one.
