stupid vs ignorant... *LINK*
Stupid...the inability to learn. Ignorant...not knowing something. That's the way I see the distinction between ignorant and stupid.
Old geophysicist friend was always declaring 95% or the peeps to be stupid. I'm sure to his powerful brain it may have seemed that way. I used to argue that they're not stupid, they're ignorant. AS I age, I'm not as certain as I used to be in my younger day and friend may have been correct.
Check out this vid of a man and woman attempting to fill their tires with propane. Nice.
Got a call from my sister one evening decades ago...I think Joe has put engine oil in my power steering pump. He did. Didn't know where the oil cap was.
Friday morning I changed the right rear axle on my truck with no more thought than how bad was lifting that honking big tire on and off was going to cripple my poor old body. Being able to do that is not so much a function of brain power as it is about experience. But...I had to have the inquisitiveness, at one time, to dig into something like that and learn it. Same thing for my ability to build a computer, or a house, or etc. The desire to learn it.
How many inches in a foot?
How many feet in a mile?
What's the speed of light?
Can you read an analog time piece?
Chit that used to be stored in the wrote memory box in the brain of every ten year old. No longer there.
It's because of design that it is this way. Nothing of consequence is being taught anymore.
Why?
It's simple.
An ignorant population is easier for the government to control.
