Balloons.... Balloons everywhere
The last few days, our news media have been falling all over themselves reporting about balloons. High altitude balloons are nothing new. The US used them in the 1950s to spy on Russia. Of course, satellite surveillance has made these surveillance balloons obsolete. Those satellites can read the numbers on your license plate (China has 300 of them). However, high altitude balloons are nowadays used by scientists to monitor airflow, temperatures and radiation at high altitude.
Our Air Force is now busy shooting these balloons down with missiles. ($420,000 per missile)
Today is Valentine’s Day. There will be a lot of loose balloons floating around. I hope the Air Force doesn’t run out of missiles.
